picture doesn't appear when file opened.

The picture (tif or jpeg created in Digital Imaging Pro 10) will appear if I
open picture file by going thru documents; but picture will not appear if I
go thru Publisher "open". I used "repair" and "reinstall" but it doesn't
help.

Are you using Open or Insert > Picture > From File?

I use Insert when creating the publication. It shows up then, but when I
save it, the problem is when I open the saved file. Only the "handles" are
there. I've tried "bring forward", but doesn't correct it. The only way I
can bring up a saved file with the picture on it is if I initially choose
"documents" and open the file that way. But to go into MS Pub 2003, choose
"open," the file opens, but no picture.

You are saying that if you insert images into your file, then they
display fine, but if you open a file containing pictures, then the
pictures don't display properly? (You're not trying to open an image
file such as a file ending in .jpg or .gif using File > Open?)

If so, check out http://ed.mvps.org/Static.aspx?=Publisher/FAQs

The file I open is a saved Publisher file. The file was saved as a Publisher
file. It had jpg and/or tif images inserted in the publication when I
created it. The images inserted fine. I save the publication (with the
inserted images) to a publication file. Later, when I open the publication
file while in MS Pub 2003, there are no images -- just the image handles.
Text is there. Any background is there -- but no images. -- If I go from
my desktop into Documents (where all documents come up) and click on the same
Publisher file, the file opens with the images. These files used to open
from the Pub.2003 program the same way, but no more. ?

I'm clueless as to why one way works and the other doesn't. Did you
check out the link?

The link is the same. I also tested this problem by choosing a predesigned
publication for print. I saved it in "publication files." I closed the pub
program. I opened up the pub program, clicked file to open up the
predesigned file I just saved. The text came up, but not the predesigned
image. I clicked on where the image should have been and all that showed up
were the handles and the word "picture." I closed that file out. I then
went into Documents from the start menu, clicked on the same predesigned
saved file and it came up fine showing everything including the image.
Another thing I don't think I mentioned: When creating from the Pub
program, if I choose "Blank" and then insert an image, I get no image
showing. When I click on where the image should be the word "picture" shows
up and so do the handles, but no image. The only way I can create so that an
inserted image shows up while I'm creating is if I choose from something
predesigned and cut out all the predesign and insert my own image and text.
That way it will show up while I'm creating it. However, if I save it to a
pub file and try to bring it up later, the file opens but the image doesn't
show. It will print, though. Again, I can bring it up fine through "Start",
"Documents", and click on the file. I sure hope you can help me as I'm an
artist and having to do all this cutting prior to creating anything takes too
much time. Thanks in advance for trying to figure this out for me.

Ed B:
I think I've found my problem. When in the Pub Program I was double
clicking to open all the files. That works fine when going through "Start" ,
"Document," etc., however, I found that when in the Pub Program, if I click
"Open" rather than double click on the selected file, everything comes up
fine -- image and all! I tried this on all the files that I've been unable
to open up and they all come up fine. Now all I need to do is figure how to
get the inserted images to show on "blank" choices when creating.
