Processing Updates/Time for Project Managers

We have been experiencing problems with data being out of synch, 0 Work
Remaining reappearing with odd numbers, and other Work (hours) related fields
displaying hours that cannot be tracked, or in some cases, PWA displaying 0
Work and the Project Plan displaying various numbers not synching with PWA.

It just occured to me that it may only be on Project Plans where I, as PS
Administrator/Coordinator, will log on as the PM User using the Project
Server Authenication and perform the Updates for them; or, in some cases when
a user becomes inactive, I will log on as that user, again using Project
Server Authenication, reactivate the account, and zero out Remaining Work.

Typically, Project Server Users log on using Windows Authentication, using
their Windows User Account.

Not all the time, but sometimes I will encounter the Cannot Create Manager
Account From Project Professional (0x8c04003c) Project Server Spooler error
when the Update Process gets to the point of opening Project to insert the
updates.

1. Do you think this could be the culprit of the out of synch data between
PS and Project?
2. Is this the correct process for processing Updates/Time for Project
Managers other than yourself? If not, is there a Best Practice?

Thank you.

By chance, are any of your PM's manually entering actuals in the Microsoft
Project plan (such as Actual Work or % Work Complete data)? If so, are the
PM's in question remembering to click Collaborate - Publish - Republish
Assignments, selecting the "Overwrite actual work entered by resources"
option, and then clicking OK? If not, this is the correct way to manage the
process of manually entering actuals in the Microsoft Project plan, and if
you do not handle the process in this manner, it could be the cause of your
out of synch project information.

Regarding the "Manager Cannot Create the Resource Account" spooler error,
this is caused by the incorrect use of local resources in an enterprise
project. Are you or any of your PM's using local (non-enterprise) resources
in your projects? If so, refer to the following FAQ for the correct way to
use them:

http://www.projectserverexperts.com/Shared Documents/CannotCreateAccount.htm

Lastly, the process of logging into Project Server as another PM should not
be the source of any of your problems. I'm just curious why you need to do
this. Is this because your PM's are away on vacation? If so, refer to the
following FAQ for the steps needed to become the temporary (or permanent)
manager of another manager's projects:

http://www.projectserverexperts.com/Shared Documents/changeprojmgr.htm

Hope this helps.

I do use a master project, but in read only. I use this to consolidate
multiple subprojects for reporting purposes. I store the master locally on
my hard drive and do not save changes to the individual subprojects.

Thank you for your reponse. Hopefully, I can determine what the heck is
going on.

How do you have a local master with enterprise projects ? I didn't think it
was possible !

Is there any chance that you could saved/published the master project to the
server ?

There is no way that I can save master projects to the server because it has
been set up so that it (the server) does not allow master projects to be
saved to the network.
So I have to save locally on my c: drive using save to file.

Paul, I am new to this, and it could very well be a user/training issue.
