Project 2000: Task Weighting

Is it possible to assign a set percentage of a project to a specifi
task. Let's say I have 30 tasks, however, one task should be valued a
25% of the overall project. If all other tasks were complete the projec
would not show more than 75% complete, assuming the over-weighted tas
has 0% completion.

Any feedback would be much appreciated

Welcome to this Microsoft Project newsgroup

I don't think this is realistic as Project is based on Critical Path Analyis
which requires Durations and Precedence links to set the logic. The Work
assigned to each task is necessary to complete the project and every task is
equally important. If you're uncertain about critical paths, you might like
to have a look at my first tutorial referenced below.
