Project: How do I get a fixed date off a task?

My tasks have start "as soon as possible" as their constraint types. Each
time I try to set a predecessor on them, I get an error message warning me of
a scheduling constrint, and saying that it's link to a task that cannot move.
I did not set any tasks that couldn't move, and didn't set the date on any
of the tasks -- I just want to use normal dependencies to automatically set
the start dates. How do I fix this?

Perhaps you have accidentally set a Date Constraint (other than ASAP which
isn't really a constraint).
I find that it is always useful to show the Indicators column so that you
can see if this has happened.

Maybe one or more of the successor tasks have an actual start date and/or
actual work?
