Project server 2007 security

Does anyone know what permissions need to be on so my PM's can update
resources? I don't want them to be able to add new resources, just update
working times, etc.. I'm using out of the box groups and categories, for the
most part. With the exception that I changed to PM group specifically not to
be able to add new resources. Since our PM's need to access all projects
across the organization, they all have the PM group, and my organization
category.

According to my documentation there is permission for Edit enterprise
resource data. I found that, in the templates. Changed the PM template to
allow it. Applied the template to a test PM, and still have a permission
problem. Maybe it's something else I set. The interesting part, is that I
can't really see what the edit enterprise resource permission is set to on
the PM. It's in the template, which was applied, but when you look at the PM
in the user view, that permission doesn't display. Any ideas?

First of all, are you using RBS in your organization? And if so, have you
specified an RBS value for every Work resource in the Enterprise Resource
Pool? Using RBS will allow you to specify which resources each PM can edit.
For this reply, I will assume that you are NOT using RBS. If you are ARE
doing so, you will need to say so and I will give you an RBS-based solution.

To give your PMs the permissions to open and edit all resources, do the
following:

1. Log into PWA with administrator permissions.
2. Click Server Settings - Manage Groups.
3. Click the Project Managers group to open it for editing.
4. In the Categories section, select the My Organization category.
5. In the Resources section of the Permissions for My Organization data
grid, set the "Edit enterprise resource data" permission to Allow.
6. Click the Save button.

Ask your PMs to exit out of PWA and/or Project Professional 2007 and then to
connect to the system again. You should now find that they can all edit all
resources in the Enterprise Resource Pool. As you can see from the above
steps, you were not solving this problem correctly. Hope this helps.
