Project Status Reporting

I am collecting metrics on project schedules. Last week, for a project, in
Project Information|Statistics the Percent Complete for Duration was 45% and
Work was 40%. A week later after the status was updated the Project Status
the Percent Complete for Duration was 44% and Work was 40%.

I don't understand how the Percent Complete for Duration decreased when the
start and finish dates (both baseline and actual) have not changed.
