publisher 2003

I have just installed Publisher 2003 ,we also have in use microsoft Office
student /teacher edition.I have just created a file & saved in publisher from
a template & Publisher says it cannot open the file .Why??It is a genuine
microsoft program bought from pc world yesterday.In the open file table we
are unable to open any of the displayed files!Before closing down we printed
a copy of the new publication!
