Re-install Office Professional Edition 2003

R

Rockyjs

I've had to replace my desktop motherboard and reinstall windows. When I
attempt to run any programs from the suite I am getting error messages. I
tried to reinstall Office and get an error message that says it is looking
for an earlier version of Office 97 or 2000. This was a full version of
Office Pro with Business Contact manager Can't remember if I ever had an
earlier version of Office on this computer but 2003 worked fine for the past
1 1/2 years. Any ideas? Thanks

If you are prompted for a qualifying product when you attempt to
reinstall, then you have an upgrade (not full) version of Office
2003, and you will need to insert the installation disk/CD for
the qualifying product when the Office 2003 installer prompts
that it can't find a qualifying product. The following Microsoft
products qualify for upgrade to Office 2003 Professional:
• Microsoft Office XP Developer, Office XP Professional with
FrontPage®, Office XP Professional Special Edition, Office XP
Professional with Publisher, Office XP Professional, Office XP
Small Business Edition, Office XP Standard
• Microsoft Office 2000 Developer, Office 2000 Premium, Office
2000 Professional, Office 2000 Small Business Edition, Office
2000 Standard
• Microsoft Office 97 Professional, Office 97 Small Business
Edition (version 2), Office 97 Small Business Edition (version
1), Office 97 Standard
• Microsoft Works 6.0, 7.0, 8.0, or 8.5
• Microsoft Works Suite 2000, 2001, 2002, 2003, 2004, 2005, or

Thanks. That explains it! I had works on the computer a while back! So do
I need to reinstall works or does it just need the works CD for verification,
to allow Office to reinstall? Funny that the Office Cd's don't say anything
about upgrade.

You don't have to reinstall Works. When the Office 2003
installer prompts that it can't find a qualifying product, swap
the Office 2003 CD and Works CD, point the installer to the CD
drive and let it see the Works CD, and then swap CDs again when
prompted.
