Recovering Outlook Contacts and email from backup

I recently had a crash and did a complete reinstall. In the process, I also
did a parallel install of Windows XP and saved all data files.

Before the crash, I did a complete backup of my C: Drive once a week. I
assume/hope that this includes my emails and Outlook contacts. However, I
cannot locate them.

I saw a previous thread where Henry Craven posted "By default it will be in:
C:\Documents and Settings\Administrator\Local Settings\Application
Data\Microsoft\Outlook.

You should have an Outlook.pst file and may have an Archive.pst file "

However, a search of the external hard drive for Outlook.pst or Archive.pst
does not yield anything.

I could not find anything in the Documents and Settings\Administrator\Local
Settings\Application Data\Microsoft\Outlook configuration.

If anyone has any suggestions on where I might find the emails, etc., I'd
appreciate it.

Thanks.

Actually, I believe you should look in your actual user profile and not the
administrator folder. Do you log on as Administrator? If your login name
is Bwana, try looking in this path:

C:\Documents and Settings\Bwana\Local Settings\Application
Data\Microsoft\Outlook

Thanks for your reply. No, I do not log in as Administrator and I am aware
of the need to substitute my user name for Administrator. I couldn't find
the files. I did a search for files containing "Application Data" as part of
the name and still got nothing until I opted to have hidden files searched.
I suspect the email and contacts information may be hidden, but don't
understand why.

It appears that in all other respects, I do have a complete backup of my C
drive including all program files. In fact, when I clicked on the Outlook
program from the backup folder, Outlook did open but with current messages in
the recent reinstall showing - no old messages and no archives. I thought if
I loaded it from the external drive, it might find the stored contacts info
and messages but apparently not.

Thanks again for your thoughts and if the above information triggers any
other thoughts, please let me know.

I will take another look to see if I can manually find the path and folder
and file.

BTW, I did a search for Outlook.pst and also for just .pst.

Thanks.
