reordering tasks

Hi there,

Is it possible to get Project to reorder the tasks according to their
occurence on the time axis? (i.e. Project to move task x down five
cells because it occurs later in the project).

Hi Duncan,

Try sorting the project by Start. Project > Sort > Sort by. Select Start
date. Select or de-select permanantly renumber as desired.

You can sort by start date or finish date or whatever your definition of
"occurs later in the Project" is. To do so, right click on any of the
column headings in the left hand pane. This however preserves the
structure under summary tasks. To avoid this, you have to uncheck the
"keep outline structure" checkbox.

You will need to decide what the next sort criteria should be for
activities that have the same start date (or whatever criteria you have
chosen).

Similarly, if you so desire, you can group by start date (menu item:
Project -> Group By and define a new grouping).
