I am trying to figure out how to use ms p to track multiple projects,
with multiple tasks, with multiple resourses. since we are a
subcontractor, our work load is often affected by outside forces. I am
trying to figure how to allocate resourses so that everything else will
calculate into usable information. at present, I have a resource pool
with all our employees, and as they go to any particular job, i add them
as a resource to the task in that project and enter thier "actual work"
into the task usage view. but some times these people are there for
only one day or one week. but if you add them as a resource, ms p
calculates everything based on all resources being present for the
entire task. maybee i am using the wrong program, or just to optimistic
about a computer program helpin me manage this. ideally, i would like
all of our projects to be in a master file and as one job slows or has
to stop, i can see where and for how long, i can send my employees to
best utilize thier time.
