Saving to PDF: the newest version of Adobe?

I downloaded the patch that enables you to save Publisher files into Adobe
format no more than two months ago, yet one of my subscribers says that she
has a new version of Adobe that will not open the files I made with Publisher
using this patch. Is there a new patch from Microsoft? I could not find it.
If I download a new patch, will people using the old software not be able to
open the files I make?

I'm thinking the problem is on your recipients computer.

Does she receive an error? What is it?

Did she try saving the .pdf file to her hard drive and
open it from there?

The problem she is having is definitely on her computer, but it is a problem
others might be having soon too.

She updated her Adobe to 8.1 to be able to access a particular file, but it
can't open the files I created and other 8.0 files she had on her computer.
What she did to open the file I sent her was to save it on her drive and then
open it up in Adobe 8.0 which she hadn't got rid of when she upgraded (a good
thing!). My question is if the newest version of Adobe is not going to be
able to open older Adobe files, won't I need to install a version of the
'save as Adobe' patch that will create new type Adobe files? And is such a
patch available yet?

I think it's an issue on your recipients
computer and not an issue with the .pdf file.

Something sounds odd about her Adobe
version. Each new version replaces the
previous one so I'm unsure how she can
access both versions.

Or...she opened the .pdf with 8.1 and was
just confused about the version.

If you open Adobe Reader and go to...Help /
About you will see a screen that says:
"Adobe Reader 8" but in much smaller print...
it says: Version 8.1.0

Thank you for your help with this.

I agree, it doesn't make sense that the later versions wouldn't be backwards
compatible.

I will check out what she did when I see her next and see what the real
issue is.
