Seq Number Reset Problem

Trying to get my Seq number field to reset when a new heading is reached.

Tried the \s 1 option but doesn't seem to work. Any idea?

SEQ Equation \s 1 \* MERGEFORMAT

This is for Wordd 2000-2003.

Try \r 1 instead of \s 1, which is the restart switch for the LISTNUM
field. (They couldn't have made them the same; that would've been too
logical and consistent).

Note that the \s switch for SEQ fields works only with the built-in
headings. In other words, the field whose code is { SEQ Equation \s
1 } would restart its numbering at 1 whenever it follows a paragraph
using the Heading 1 style.

You are right in assuming that you cannot use the \s switch to set a
specific starting number -- for that you need the \r switch. But the
\s switch should work with SEQ fields to force a restart at 1 whenever
it follows a paragraph using the specified built-in heading level.

If you have a custom Heading 1 Style should this work or will it only work
for the default Heading 1 style?

Yes, with a SEQ field the \s switch references the level of a built-in
heading after which the field should restart. In other words, \s 1
means to "restart this field after paragraphs using the built-in
Heading 1 style".

Note that the names of the built-in headings depend on the language of
Word's dialog boxes and menus (which can be different from the enabled
language in Windows or from the language of document text).

Ok thanks for your help.
I guess the only way is to put a reset marker in when needed using \r then.
