Shifting of Start and Finish times

Why does the start and finish dates shift when entering resource information?
For instance, we entered several resources to a specific task and when we
tried to change the times for one of the resources, the start and finish
dates changed for all resources.

There is a relationship between Work, Units, and Duration. Changing one
changes the others. This depends on the task type - Fixed Units, Duration,
Work.

Example - adding additional resources to a fixed units task decreases duration

Can you give more detail as to what you're changing so we can give you
some help? The obvious thing is that if you change the time the
resource is working on the task, the task might move in time to
accomodate it. But I need to know more detail about exactly what you
changed to get the dates to change.

Dave,
As a part of early planninh, we assign several resources to a specific task
(Work Coverage for Camp) based upon what we are projecting to complete the
task. We usually assign about six resources (ex. starting time 1:00pm to
4:00pm) with the assumption that all will work the same hours to complete the
task. We dont have a problem until we try to change the working start time
for someone that comes in at a later time or a different time from the
others. Once we change that specific person, everyone else shifts. Any
suggestions to why?
