show resources assigned to task on calendar view

Is it possible to show each resource assigned to a particular task in a
calendar view.
I have lots of events with staff assigned to each one. Need to plan
who has availability to cover new tasks. Appreciate any help. - This

Hi Grammy,

A reply from a 64 year old (not a grandad 'cause you can't force yor
offspring to be productive :)

Look at the resource usage view
Through Format, Detail Styles, you can show Remaining availability.

Keep on the good work!

What I'm trying to do is show a monthly calendar view with tasks (daily
events) and also show the resource (person) assigned to that task.
These people belong to different departments so it would also be nice
to color code or in some way designate on the calendar who was doing
what.
Appreciate any help. -- Know about those reluctant offspring,
fortunately, I have one productive one.

Thanks for the help. I'm trying to build a monthly calendar with daily
events that also shows the person assigned to each. These people
belong to different departments so it would be nice to color coordinate
or otherwise designate which group they are in.
Doesn't seem like it should be so hard but I just can't figure it out.
Thanks for any help. Good luck with that non-productive offspring.
I've got one too.
He just predicts he will live so long that he shouldn't hurry. ;->

Hi GammyG,

Pardon me for jumping in, but it is likely that Jan is offline currently.

To answer your question about customizing the Calendar view: unfortunately
the view is fairly limited, but some customization as far as what text
appears in the bars is possible.

Display the Calendar view and choose Format > Bar Styles in the menu to show
the Bar Styles dialog box. Select "Noncritical" in the Task type list.
Towards the bottom of the dialog box under "Text" you can add additional
fields to appear.

By default the bars contain Name, Duration.
Click after Duration. Type a comma and type Resource Names
(this will add the list of resources who are assigned to the task to the
bar.
To show the Resource Group (set on the Resource sheet) type another comma
and type Resource Group.

The full text would read:
Name, Duration, Resource Names, Resource Group.

This is going to be quite a bit of text (particularly for tasks of a short
duration.) You may want to add either Resource Names or Resource Groups.

Repeat the process for Critical tasks and you are well on you're way.

To the question of color coding, I'm afraid that would be manual but you can
select a bar, choose Format > Bar and then apply colors to individual bars.

I hope this helps. Let us know how you get along.

Julie

Thanks, Julie, the timezone difference make a dialog with the US difficult
from here...

I figured as much Jan. When I saw the lovely chat between you and GammyG
carrying on, but saw you hadn't replied to her post from the afternoon, I
knew it was the middle of the night for you.
