Start and End task dependencies

How would I have a task start at the same time as another task but end at the
end of a third task.

I would like pumping of water to start with the excavation task and continue
until the end of the backfill task.

Look up hammock tasks. These have their start and end dates dynamically
linked to the start and end dates of other tasks so that when those
dates move, the dates of the hammock task move accordingly.

Hi,
E.g. you have three tasks and 2nd one have to start at the same time
as first and finish at the same time as third. Link second one with
first with "start-to-start" option (just put "1SS" in the predecessor
field for the second task) and link third with second with
"finish-to-finish" option (put "2FF" in predecessor field for the 3rd
task). Hope this helps.

Alexandar,

Your solution will keep the task between those dates, but if the task is
shorter than the duration between start of first and end of third the task
will not expand to take the entire time. There will be a gap.

Hi Mike ......
thank you this helped and I did use the FAQ 19 to modify the tasks in the
project plan.
I have a follow up question. After saving & closing and then reopening the
file I get a note on start up. Do I want to re-establish the links in the
file? I definately do, but how do I go about checking if the links are
correct?

You have to look at the plan. Why do you want to just check that those
links are correct and not other more standard links? Maybe I have
misunderstood something.
