Tabs are not sticking

I am working in a publisher document and my tabs are not
sticking.

After I format my text the way I want it to be, I save
and close the document. When I reopen my document each
tab keystroke has been replaced by a spacebar keystroke;
ie: 4 tab keys = 4 space keys, etc...

It happening in this one document on more than one
computer and I need to send it out to the printer soon.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Known problem, no fix.

Ok so it is a known problem.

What do I do about it? Is there a possible work around besides just using
the space key to move text?

Can you use a Table or a Spreadsheet, or use OLE from Word.
