TBD Tasks in Project

Our team (SQA) works as part of a much larger team. We keep our own project
plans since some groups are more lax in their scheduling and forward
planning. I would like to be able to add Tasks (put them in our radar) to
our plans as soon as I find out about them, but they don’t have dates or
duration estimates at this time. Is there any way to add items that will
show up in the task list, but not any of the charts (basically have no other
info besides a name)? The problem with just adding them and leaving the
defaults (or making up future dates) is that it clutters the project plan and
makes them look like formal scheduled tasks (misrepresents the amount of
work).

No you can't. you can however add a Summary Task called New Tasks and insert
new tasks there. Once you know when they will happen, move them to the
proper place and update duration and resources etc.

To add to what Rod said, You can also go to tools>options>schedule and select
the option for "New Task Start On". There are 2 options here. If you are
changing your current date, this may be the best choice. (Project>Project
Information) Also there is an option to have all new task have a zero
duration. Hope this will help.
