Text doubles up

I have done something to my default setting that messes up the text. As I
enter text some of the letters will double up. It results in a letter being
on top of another letter. The spacing between the letters has been altered
somehow. How do I get it back to regular spacing between each letter as it is
typed in?

Sorry to bump up an old post, but I also have this issue, and I am not able
to carry out the steps shown below, as I am on a network - I do not get the
option to select a local printer or port.

Please ask your IT guys for help, then. Have them read that FAQ (because
they'll want to use the specific driver mentioned in FAQ 952) and this one:
PowerPoint 2007 text editing slow, text cut off, text display or formatting
problems, print, crash problems
http://www.pptfaq.com/FAQ00850.htm

You need local printer drivers to fix this issue.
