The Office Assistant doesn't show up even when "Show Office Assis.

In Windows XP, I'm trying to use the Office Assistant. I click on "Show
Office Assistant", the words "gray out", but the assistant never shows up. I
can exit from the program (Word or Excel), come back and the words are black
again.

Thanks for the response. Unfortunately, that didn't help. Any other
suggestions? Would it help to re-install Office XP?

Although reinstalling RARELY works...this is one of the time when I've
found it helps to kick the assistant into gear. However, rather than
taking all the time to uninstall and reinstall...just do a maintenance
update by putting in the CD...going to the Office Assistant section of
the installation files and either adding or removing one of the
assistants. This will be much faster and will update that feature.
Just make sure NOT to uncheck anything you want or it'll be
uninstalled.

I run Word 2000, XP and 2003 on the same system and "Rocky" is always
getting tangled up with the other versions so that often times when I
attempt to open another version, I get a warning that the Office
Assistant is not properly installed. Yet, eventually he comes back on
his own. But sometimes I get tired of the warning and run this same
process to install/uninstall one of the others. That fixes the
problem...until I open Word 2000 again...which is the culprit that
messes up the other versions!

So give that a short. It'll take much less time and I'll keep my
fingers crossed for you.
