URL hyperlinks to shapes.

I use Visio 2007 standard to create flows, and then save them as web pages.
in many of the shapes, I add hyperlinks to external files. After the HTML
pages are created (using "Save as Web Page..."), I click on one of the
hyperlinked shapes and display the file. Some files open in new browser
windows, others open in the same browser window. As far as I can tell, the
Excel files open in a new browser, Word files open in the existing browser
window. How can I make it so that ALL files accessed via hyperlink open in a
new browser? I can find no options in the Visio application and the
Microsoft online help is worthless.

Just an idea: is it a setting in your browser based on mime type? Sorry don't
have an answer for you.

Checked all of the Internet Options in the browser (our company uses IE 6.0),
I could not find anything that speified what to open. I did check the HTML
coding that Visio created, and the target for the Excel files is "_blank"
(which opens a new browser window)... The HTML that links to Word files has
no target specification and that causes the link to open in the existing
window. What tells Visio to specify a target when saving files as a Web Page
(HTML file)?

John, that was the answer. I've also found that your website has been
helpful when looking at my "wish list" of things that I would like to do with
the Visio file/Web pages.

Many Thanks!

Jamie
