Visio 2003 Organization Chart Sorting

Using Visio 2003 Organization Chart Wizard to import an excel file containing
organizational data. The chart generates just fine except that I can't get
any sequence on the subordinate shapes. Doesn't matter what sequence the
import file is in. When the chart is produced the sequence is not maintained.
The file only contains 1 manager with 20 subordinates. How does Visio
determine the order of the data on the chart?

This is a standard lament. The answer is that Visio does not sort the data,
it randomizes the drops by design to improve drawing performance.

not in v2007, I'm unsure of v2010 (still in preview). There are of course
standalone products out there and David Parker has an interesting post on
his blog on how applications might be coded.
