What's the best way to post question

I noticed that Posting a question through Google do not show up on the
MS message board (and vise versa) for several hours, sometimes they
never sync up.

What't the best way to get a question answered? Posting on Google or
MS message board?

Joe,
I had the same problem when I first started posting a few years ago -
very frustrating. Then someone suggested I use a newsreader. There are
several available standalone readers or many of the web browsers either
contain or can be configured as newsreaders. I don't have specific
examples (I happen to use a Mac) but you could search this newsgroup for
past posts on this subject for suggestions on PC (Windows based)
newsreaders.

Hi,

Since I use Outlook Express as my mail program I also use it as a
newsreader; insertion is immediate.

I'm asking you this, 'cause I've been thinking on having a Mac as my laptop
system.

Thanks

David

David,
Yes I use VPC. I presently have VPC 7.0.1 running under OS 10.2.8 but
after using VPC 7 for a while I get no clear advantage over my previous
install of VPC 5.0.4. I run Project 98, 2K and 2003 depending on the
question I need to answer.

A newsreader that almost everyone owns and almost no one knows that they own
is Outlook Express, bundled free AFAIK in every current version of Windows
and Internet Explorer. It's terrible for binary newsgroups (sorry
Microsoft, but the lack of an easy way to combine multipart binary posts and
of yEnc support creates huge holes in OE's utility) but for text-based
groups like this one it does a great job. At the opening splash screen all
someone has to do is click the link to run the "create a new news account"
wizard, enter their email address (or a facsimile thereof to thwart spam
harvesters), point the server address to news.microsoft.com, download the
available group list and subscribe to the groups of interest, and they'll be
rocking and rolling at no added cost at all.
