When I open Outlook ... Word opens ... but not properly !!!

When I open Outlook ... Word opens as well but only as a shell ... no
toolbars - no open template ... totally unusable !!!

Can anybody please tell me ho to stop this... its a new fresh install and
this has never happened to me before. The ONLY difference to previous
installs is that I now have Norton Internet Security installed as well

Can anybody help ???
