Who Does What When report

I'm looking for a report that will show which resource does which task at
what time. The default report is useless and I can't seem to figure how to
customize it for my needs. I only want to show one resource per report that
indicates their upcoming tasks starting at a certain date. Using MSP 2003
Pro. Thanks.

Hi

You could get the required report by the following method:
In the 'Resource usage' view use the filter 'Resource range'. By default the
filter only shows a Resource name and its total assignment for each day. To
view individual assignments of each activity under it edit the filter. While
editing, retain the first selection and in the second selection row with
Field name 'Assignment' change the Value from 'No' to selection
'[Assignment]'. Now when you apply this filter you will get the total and
individual task assignment for each resource of your selection for each day.
Like this you may take the printout for each resource separately.

There is a 'Resource usage' report in 'workload' group. There also for each
Resource separately you may apply this Filter. But, the filter can't be
edited in that view.

I hope it helps.

Thanks for the information, but I didn't explain myself well enough. Here is
a sample layout of what I'm looking for:

RESOURCE TASK START FINISH
------------ ----------------- ------------ -------------
Tony Firmware 2/20/2009 3/12/2009
Tony Testing 3/13/2009 3/31/2009

This should show all tasks, even if they're months away from starting.

Thanks!

Hi

There is a solution to your problem. Export data to Excel through Save as >
Project type Excel workbook. In Export wizard select type of data you want to
export 'Assignment'. While mapping the fields take in this sequence:
Resource name
Task Name
Start
Finish
Work

After data is exported you will have the report in your required format
alongwith work to be done by each resource for each activity.

I hope it helps.

Thanks, that'll work even though I was hoping to do this within MSP...

You are welocome.

One of the advantages of using a Microsoft application is good data
interface with other applications of the group. So, why not use this
functionality. We need to exploit the best combined usage of the software
available.

Also, after designing this report first time, you may save this map and
subsequently you won't have to design the report again and you can get it
through the existing map.

OK, it works just fine in Excel. Now how would I do this for a portfolio of
multiple projects where the same resource can be assigned multiple tasks in
different projects? Looking for a format like this:

RESOURCE - TASK - START - FINISH - PROJECT NAME
