why do some tasks not appear on the calendar

I know this is probably a dumb question but when i enter a task I often times
do not see it displayed in the calendar. I see the little black arrow that
when I click on it displays every thing happening for that day but for some
reason a bar does not appear on that day.

The thing is that sometimes it does appear as a bar on the calendar and I
cannot figure out what the difference is between the two.

Please help.

Sometimes the bars are placed further down in the calendar box. If you put
your curser at the top edge of a date box, you'll get a double headed arrow
which you can drag down to display taller boxes. Here you'll find the rest
of your tasks which you can drag further up within the box.
