Why does my database crash on another PC?

Why does my database crash? It works beautifully on my PC, but when I copy
it to another PC it crashes when I get to a subform.

I built the database with Access 2000 on my PC which runs on Windows 98.
The other PC runs on Windows 2000.

What can I do to get it to work on the other PC? Any help gratefully accepted.

I'm certain the database isn't corrupt.

I also installed the msaccess.exe file from my PC in the same folder on the
other PC as the database, but I still have problems.

You can't just copy the exe, you must install Access from the Microsoft CD.
Other files are required besides the executable.

Thanks John.

I think the other PC has a more modern version of Access, so it doesn't make
sense to replace the newer version.
Someone told me that I would simply have to work with the database on the
other PC. It looks like I may have to rebuild the entire database on the
other PC. It's not an appealing thought and I was hoping for a better
solution.

The database doesn't just crash, it has a few other things wrong with it
too. For example a heading on a report does not dispaly even though it has
been put in! It just doesn't make sense.

How do I do that?
If this works I'll be abolutely delighted. I've already had a few late
nights on this database and am not looking forward to a few more!

Looks like I'll have to rebuild the whole thing on the other computer.
I'm not too impressed with Access and its different versions. I'll use
another database the next time.

Jane - before you go to all that effort - which version of Access is the
newest one?

For MOST versions (there is usually a limit to compatibility and conversion
abilities) you can convert an older database to be used on a newer version
of Access.
I have that problems once in a while myself, since I have '97 at work and
2000 at home.

Try this:

On whichever computer has the newer version, open up access
go to Tools --> Database Utilities --> Convert Database
follow the prompts to select the database and convert it into the newer
format.

Keep in mind..... If you make any changes to your database on the newer
version and want to copy them over to the older one, you will have to convert
your databse back to 2000 again for the older version.

If your database is secured or replicated - ask Clippit for help on
"Converting a Secured(or Replicated) Database"

I hope that helps. the prospect of rebuilding a database from scratch is
NEVER a pleasant one.
