As a general rule, it's not advisable to open any attachment directly,
especially Word documents. Quite aside from the risk of macro viruses
(though they will usually be intercepted by your AV), the real danger is
that you will edit the document and, despite repeated saves, find that you
have not really saved your changes because the document is opened in and
saved to a temp folder, whence it is deleted when you quit Word. Instead,
save the document to a Word document folder, then open it from there.
