Hi

This problem is driving me crazy. sometimes when I close
a Word 2002 doc it crashes and stops responding. What can
I do to fix this?

Thanks for your time & help

This is usually because something that you have installed has put a Close
Macro into Word that is broken. If that is the case, just delete the macro.
Alternatively, you may have a virus.

Hi Terry
Thanks for the advice.

Any ideas on how I can find out which macro might be
behind the problem? I have Norton Antivirus and in
today's scan it came up with no viruses? Are there any
other ways to find out if it might be a virus?

Thanks

First advice is to open NAV and make sure that the Office Plug-in is
disabled as this causes a whole host of problems in Word.

Check in your list of macros to see what you have: if it isn't obvious -
such as AutoClose - then edit all the AutoXxx macros listed by putting XXX
immediately in front of the macro name. This will stop them auto executing.
Test Word again. If it is now OK, gradually remove the XXX from the macro
names until you find the little devil.

One article that may help you because it includes troubleshooting shut down
problems is:

Hi Terry

Still no luck - I followed your suggestions but am still
getting the same problem. Just a quick question,
whereabouts do I look for the list of macros?? I looked
in Word and couldn't find any?

Thanks for your advice so far - I really hope it can be
sorted out....(without losing my thesis in the process!!!!)
