Version: 2008 Operating System: Mac OS X 10.6 (Snow Leopard) Processor: Intel Hi All,

I have been experiencing constant crashes in Word lately. Office is fully patched to 12.2.3, I have tried removing the Microsoft User Data folder and letting Office re-create everything, and forced Office to re-created the plist files. I have also removed all the trouble fonts, as i have seen in multiple posts here. I get the following error message:

Microsoft Error Reporting log version: 2.0

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Hi Zac;

I'm not sure where you may have gotten the suggestion to remove the MUD
folder, but that may very well create additional problems. There really
isn't anything there that would be likely to cause Word to crash & it does
not get "re-created". It does, however, contain a number of files that are
used by the other Office apps including the Entourage database. If you
didn't actually delete it I'd suggest that you put it back. If it has been
deleted perhaps you can recover it from Time Machine.

In order to resolve the crashing problem it would help if you'd be more
specific about *when* the crashes occur [On launch? During use? On Save? On
Quit? When using any specific features?]. What is the nature of the content
& file type of the documents? Do the crashes coincide with the use of
specific documents or does it even happen with newly created files? What
other details can you supply?

Also, explain exactly how you "removed all the trouble fonts".

Hi Bob,
Thanks for the reply. I put back the MUD folder, I was able to fix an Entourage problem once doing that, but not this time.

The crashes occur while word is in use, they do not happen at specific times, ie., opening or saving a document. Documents have been both .doc and .docx formats, and have been created by both PC and Mac users. We have tested multiple documents, and it happens on all of them. Some of the documents contain a company logo, and some are simply text.

I followed these steps to remove fonts that were duplicates or had warnings, which I found in one of your posts last year. :)

The info helps narrow it down. The following links are presented in the
order of most likely cause. Although multiple docs are involved don't be too
quick to rule out file corruption. There are several factors which can
contribute to it, especially in files handed by several users.

Corrupt document <http://word.mvps.org/mac/DocumentCorruption.html>

Document is/was part of a Master Document
