Word quiting unexpectedly

S

Sabrina Ait-aoudia

I'm a new Mac user and since I've got my computer and installed Microsoft
office I have a problem with Word. In the beginning it was quiting from time
to time now it happens very often: I open a document and when I start to
type it just shut down word, and when I try again it happens again as soon
as I open the document. I reinstalled office and I'm still experiencing the
problem. If someone can help me it will be great as I just wasted a whole
morning of work trying to fix that.

Thank you in advance for your help

What version of the Mac OS and of MS Word are you running?

If you are on Mac OS 9.x or earlier, you need to allocate more memory to
Word. BEFORE launching Word, highlight its icon and hit Command+I, or
select Get Info from the File menu. The drop down menu (the one with
arrows) in the Get Info dialog box lets you select the Memory allocation.
In the "Preferred Size" type at least twice the amount (more if you have
enough) of the "Suggested Size". Close that window, then launch Word. I
have about 45,000 KB allocated to Word 2001 under System 9.2.2.

If you are on OS X, the above does not apply.
