I've been struggling with the BCWP calculations in Project for a few years
now (in trying to explain them to my supervisors). What I have done is
created an alternative calculation method using the customizeable cost fields
and a number field for options of how to calculate EV. The number field
contains a drop-downlist of either % complete, 0-100, 50/50, 80/20, etc.
The cost field corresponds to the calculation method and computes BCWP by the
determined method. To do this here is the code that should be entered into
the cost field of your choice:
IIf([Number2]=0,([% Complete]*[Baseline
Cost])/100,IIf([Number2]=1,[BCWS],IIf([Number2]=2 And [%
Complete]<100,0,IIf([Number2]=2 And [% Complete]=100,[Baseline
Cost],IIf([Number2]=3 And [% Complete]<100,[Baseline
Cost]*0.8,IIf([Number2]=3 And [% Complete]=100,[Baseline
Cost],IIf([Number2]=4,[Baseline Cost],IIf([Number2]=5 And [%
Complete]<100,[Baseline Cost]*0.5,[Baseline Cost]))))))))
Here is the corresponding Number2 drop-down list values
0 = % Complete
1 = LOE
2 = 0 - 100
3 = 80-20
4 = 100 - 0
5 = 50/50
Maybe this will help someone who has also struggled.
