Can no longer type text...Help!

Last I used Publisher was in December and everything was okay. Now I open and cannot type ANYTHING on a blank page. All text tool buttons are grey and unavailable. I can insert pictures, tables and other things but CANNOT type letters/words. I can type just fine within Word & Excel however. Thank you in advance for any help you may provide!:)
