Can't open "Office" files

Windows XP Professional, Office 2002-SP2

All of a sudden I can not open word or excel files. For word doc's it says
"the file is not available." Then it says "the File Normal.dot already
exists, do you want to replace it."

For excel it says "unable to read file."

I can create a file, save it, close it...but then I can't open it 2 seconds
later...getting the response above. Any ideas?

Try disabling the Office Plugin that comes with Symantec/Norton AntiVirus.
