Copy & Paste Problem from Eudora 6.0

B

Bob Hamilton

When doing a "copy & paste" from a message in Eudora 6.0
into an existing Publisher 2002 text box, it places this
inserted text into another text box within the existing
text box. I cannot seem to find a way to insert this text
into the existing text box.
This did not happen in Publisher 2000 or 98. Am I missing
a toggle somewhere?

Thanks,
Bob

Are you clicking within the text box? And are you pasting as plain text via
the Edit > Paste Special menu?

Hi Brian,

Thanks for the prompt reply.

I was pasting into an existing text box and it created
another text box within this box with the pasted text. I
was using the Edit/Paste on the top menu which doesn't
give options but since posting my original message, I now
notice a floating Paste menu with 2 drop down
choices, "Keep Source Formatting" or "Keep text only" but
this only appears after I have pasted either by a right
click or from the top Edit menu in the position into the
position I wish to paste.

Is there a way to have this option available on the right
click or top menu?

Thanks,
Bob

Well, my concern is that you shouldn't really have a problem pasting into an
existing text box as it works just fine on my end. What if you are NOT using
Eurdora?

Hi Brian,

I think I have found the cause of this problem.

It only occurs when doing a copy & paste from a Eudora
6.0 message and the paste defaults to "Keep Source
Formatting". I change this to "Keep text Only" from the
floating Edit drop down menu beside the paste, it removes
the extra text box and inserts the text into the existing
text box. There appears to be formatting in some messages
in Eudora that causes this. HTML perhaps?

If I do a copy and paste from a MS Word document into an
existing text box, it works fine, no extra text box. But,
in the floating Edit drop down selections (which suddenly
appears beside the inserted text after doing the Paste),
there are now three choices, (not two as when pasting
from an Eudora message), the extra one being "Use
Destination Styles" which it defaults to. I wonder why
this selection is not available when pasting from Eudora?

In any case I know now how to correct the paste but it
seems to require an extra step. Perhaps this should be
looked into by MS for future upgrades.

Again, thanks for your help.

Bob
