Deploying Groove - Keeping Outlook info synchronized between users

Hi all,

I have another question about Groove, so I thought it would be best to post
this question separately.

One of our main goals in deploying Groove is to use Groove and Outlook
Business Contacts to keep our calendars, client lists, and contacts in sync
between all the users. We'll also be using InfoPath for forms and would like
to share the forms and saved data between users. Can Groove do all this? If
so, I understand that the answer might be a lengthly reply, so if there's a
link to the info online, I'd appreciate the link. I just read about a
product called GrooveIT! (www.grooveit.biz), but that program seems to only
send the Outlook items to Groove workspace, and not back to Outlook FROM
Groove.

Thanks in advanced for your help!

I use GrooveIt, but it's not very sophisticated. One issue I have discovered
is it just sends information from the Outlook calendar to Groove, but it
doesn't do any syncing. In other words, if you delete or revise something in
Outlook, that change will not be reflected in Groove. If you delete an
appointment that you had already sent to Groove, that appointment will remain
on that Groove calendar even if you delete it from your Outlook calendar. I'm
waiting to hear back from the GrooveIt folks about whether this is indeed how
it's supposed to work. If anyone out there has more information, bring it on!

Thanks for the info!

I did send a technical support request to the GrooveIt people specifically
about synchronizing issues. Here's what they said:

"The aim of GrooveIT! is to transfer your personal information (Outlook) to
your team (Groove). GrooveIT! publishes emails, tasks, RSS feeds, contacts
and events. At this time, you can not publish the other way, from Groove to
Outlook.

This feature is a common request from lots of our customers. Our development
team is thinking to add it in a future release but there is no precise
roadmap and I can not guarantee you of any soon availability..."

Thanks,
Jim R.

As a follow-up question: Is theare a tool or a way to create a CALENDAR in
MOSS or Outlook and then SHARE that calendar to MULTIPLE Groove workspaces
(e.g. have all the Groove workspaces see the same identical calendar)? Why?
For example if I had a workspace for multiple customer projects and I wanted
them to see a common calendar of public events or webcasts, etc. I looked at
grooveit below and I don't think this will do what I want. I'm assumming
someone might have written a tool to accomplish this ...

Hi Mike,

Sorry that option not in Groove you can only sync with MOSS 2007 and then
only the Document Libary.
And Groove it can only push it to one workspace at the time.

I think you need some devlopement skills to get this done.

see ya,

Hi Mike,

GrooveIT! for Outlook should fit your needs.
Create one GrooveIT! rule on your Outlook calendar for each target Groove
workspace.
Each new event created in Outlook will be posted (and updated) in your N
Groove calendars...

One way would be to create a specifically named Calendar tool in each
workspace and then develop a way in the Groove DataBridge to populate the
Calendar items from MOSS. It would require you to invite the DataBridge
identity to each workspace that has this calendar and (the hardest part)
developing a way to read the calendar items from MOSS and populating them
into the Calendar tool...

Not the easiest of challenges though.
Regards, Kevin.

I am having similar problems with GrooveIt. I have the latest version, and
I'm happy to see that the "rule" I created transfers stuff from my Outlook
Calendar to Groove, and updates it when I change the time or date of the
event. But two problems remain:

1. When I delete an event completely from my Outlook calendar, it doesn't
get deleted from Groove.

2. If I create an event in Outlook and mark it as "private", an event is
added to
Groove, but its description is "Private." I don't want it to be there at
all. Obviously, my colleagues don't care if I have a dentist appointment!

Am I doing something wrong? Are these issues resolvable? My office was
considering licensing GrooveIt! but I can't recommend it with these flaws!
