Do Not Publish

The hosting service has put a directory called stats with 49 files in it for
tracking the usage of my site.

Every time I publish, I have to click 49 times not to delete the files on
the remote site.

How can I 'Not Publish' to the remote site? I do not have the stats
directory on my development machine. Should I just copy the stats directory
to my machine and 'Not Publish' it?

TIA

Open the online site in FP and Convert the Stat folder to a subweb (or have you host do it for you)
- then publish the root from you PC (not including subwebs)

The method I use is to make the stats folder a subweb. Open the remote
site in FrontPage, right click on the stats folder and choose "Convert
to web". This subweb will be ignored when publishing from local to
remote.

Before doing this, check with your host that they allow subwebs, and
that converting the stats folder will not affect the statistics
functions.

....you can also mark everything *in* the stats folder "Do Not Publish" -
Jimco used to have a utility to mark the entire folder, but not sure it
exists any longer.

You can also create a folder in your local web called stats and convert it
to a subweb. Make sure when you publish that you do not publish subwebs.

But you'll get it back if you reverse publish unless you have the host put
it in a subweb too.

True. If I need to reverse publish, I mark the stats files on the remote
server as 'do not publish' first.
