Find the "driving activity"

For a given task, how do I find the predecessor that most closely binds it to
its current start or finish? I may have a half-dozen predecessors all over
the schedule. I want the one that is pushing out this activity.

Jack Dahlgren has a macro that gives you the answer
Look at http://www.masamiki.com
Look for the Trace macro.
And BTW, Project 2007 has the answer to your question buillt-in
