Fixed Work Task

I have a fixed work task. I go to task usage sheet and click on the assign
resources icon. I add a resource at 0% allocation because I want to enter
the monthly hours estimate for this resource. However, project adjusts the
hours for the previously assigned resources. I don't understand why it is
recalculating and changing things when I have only assigned a 0% allocated
resource. There is no work associated with this resource yet.
Can someone please explain?
I am using MSOP 2007.

Check to make sure that the task is not set to "Effort Driven".

Double-clicking the task will bring this up.

Hi Jack,
Thanks for the reply. I have the task set as a fixed work task. The effort
driven option is grayed out (not available).
I created a new file this morning and did not have any problem. Everything
worked as I expected. I also open the file with this issue and inserted
another line item at the end of the tasking and did not see an issue either.
So it appears that the issue is with the task itself. The file was
originally created with 2003. We have since all upgraded to MSOP 2007. The
task in question was originally set up as a fixed duration non effort driven
task. Is there another setting that I have overlooked?
