HOW DO I SAVE FILES IN MS WORD 2003?

i downloaded the trial software of office 2003 to test it out before i decide
whether or not to buy it... when i try to open a file in office 2003 a
message keeps popping up sayin the document is not available... so i created
a new document and saved it and i got the message again. This really doesnt
make any sense. How do i fix this problem?
