You can't. Publisher 2003 doesn't support regular HTML. Filtered HTML is
the closest to regular HTML; unfiltered HTML is bulkier and is designed for
HTML files that you will want to reimport into Publisher at some stage.

That's not the answer I was expecting... For one thing Microsoft has from the
beginning had the "can do" attitude not the "can't do" attitude. Today such
an attitude simply speeds up the migration to Linux.

If the production of regular HTML is not a Publisher option then my '97 web
pages could possibly be redeveloped under Front Page and Publisher relegated
to print medium and possibly short transiient web pages or not used at all.

But in the long term interest of Microsoft making regular HTML optional
rather than allowing it to serve as yet another denial of service by
Microsoft would probably keep me from buying that Linux box.

That would require Microsoft actually being able to write a program that
creates regular HTML code. Which at the moment is on the doubtful side of
doubtful.

BTW, this group is for programming, not for web design. I'd suggest going
to .webdesign if you want someone who deals with Publisher web functionality
every day.

Surprised to hear that since the "regular" HTML that Front Page seems to
generate has at least allowed me to get up and running even though its not
pretty.

My real need right now isn't so much in web design since most of the suff I
am working with has long since been designed but rather accomodating security
issues which were not anticipated when scripts were first written in older
language versions. While i can usually duplicate a layout with no problem the
task of finding just what it is SP2 and otherjackboot security software does
not like is real.

See if you can view and run my Visual Basic script at
http://joggle.dnsdojo.org/adapt/index_files/adaptronpage6.htm I can't view or
run it without eradicating all of my browser security settings and sometimes
even then whereas the old Java script at
http://joggle.dnsdojo.org/adapt/index_files/adaptronpage11.htm runs fine
under almost any reasonable level of security configuration.

But them maybe what I really need is to hire a competent Microsoft Visual
Basic Script Programmer and be done!

That may be due to IE disabling VBScript in its default configuration, but
not JavaScript?

(Not that I know that much about this subject.)

If it turns out that vml is not the problem but rather the IE default
configuration then I can probably rewrite the script in Jave to restore its
function as the best way to migrate to 2003 from 97. Know of any programs
that can get the conversion job done?
