How to have the "faded" alert display showing new OL in Inbox

New to OL 2003 (DON'T USE OL EXPRESS); having at work, I notice a "faded"
notice showing new emails in inbox. Accidentally, somehow, in the options (I
think) I "found" this "link" or "choice" and somehow I did successfully
"check it", as OCCASIONALLY, not always, suddenly at bottom right screen, I
have a little faded square with a message notice underlined, wtih an "X" and
an "arrow" (I think), allowing you to click and go into the message, ... what
one may call or is called a "notification of a message that has just dopped
in thru cyberspace. Problem: I don't know HOW I did it; I'd like to know in
case of clean installs, or deciding I don't want the link present, etc. - so
- HOW DID I DO IT and WHAT DID I ACCIDENTALLY PUSH? I was "playing" when I
was TRYING to figure out HOW TO SAVE STATIONARY FROM PICTURES ALREADY HAVE
SAVED as JPEGs, Bitmaps, GIF, etc. - BUT TO - altho posted elsewhere, I will
repeat here: I have NEVER been able to create stationary (not save) through
2003, but create - WITHOUT having THIS PROBLEM: When I create from a px,
this is what "I" have discovered I have to do: 1 - Get Px from OL message;
save BG to desktop by PAINTING; 2 - It will only save to Bitmap; 3- go to
PROPERTIES, change to "EXPLORER" and the TYPE OF FILE BEING: "JPEG, JPG,
JPE, JFIF"; and THEN, IF I'm LUCKY, I will get ONE PX INSIDE THE OL
STATIONARY and NOT a "block of 4 of the same px" when all I want is a simple
ONE PAGE PIECE OF STATIONARY WTIH A REALLY NEAT CHRISTIAIN PICTURE that I
have found ... CAN SOMEONE HELP ME? I'm NOT a geek; a simple housewife
computer operator, altho intelligent in many fields; NOT in computers. I
need it SPELLED OUT, A B C D E ... PLEASE HELP ME SOMEONE! PLEASE? God
Bless -

It's a "New Mail Desktop Alert" and it's controlled in Outlook with the
"Show a New Mail Desktop Alert" option on the Tools>Options>E-mail
Options>Advanced E-mail Options dialogue page. How long the alert remains
on the screen can be controlled by clicking Desktop Alert Settings and
adjusting the duration there.

You can save image attachments in their original format by following
instructions here:
http://www.howto-outlook.com/howto/saveembeddedpictures.htm , although your
way seems to work as well.
I need it SPELLED OUT, A B C D E ... PLEASE HELP ME SOMEONE! PLEASE?

In the "Type a question for help" box at the top right of Outlook, enter
"create stationery" and press Enter. I think the informaiton there is
valuable. You can also visit http://www.slipstick.com/addins/stationery.htm
for add-ins that help.
