Old Files are read only

I recently copied files from Win98 to Windows 2003. I can open the files in
Word, but when I go to save them it doesn't allow me because it says they are
read only. When I check to see if the file is read only, it's not checked.
Any ideas? It seems like and import issue

Did you copy the files via CD? If so, all files copied from a CD to the HD
will be read-only. In Windows Explorer, right-click on the file, choose
Properties, and remove the check from the "Read Only" box.
