Outlook crashing a lot, disabling vba, corrupting data, sluggish

PROBLEMS: [1] Outlook 2003 professional crashes a lot. [2] Frequently,
Outlook tells me that a serious crash occurred, and that Outlook has disabled
vba, and how to re-enable it...and I promptly re-enable vba. [3] When I run
scanpst.exe, there frequently are errors which I have scanpst.exe fix, and
unfortunately, scanpst.exe fixes the errors by deleting data. [4] When I am
sending an email, and I click on the "To" button or the "cc" button or the
"bcc" button, Outlook takes a long time to bring up the list of addresses,
and to find any particular address. [5] When I open Outlook, I have to wait
about 30 seconds or more for Outlook to "calm down" (because I think Outlook
is checking for emails and alerts) before I can do anything w/o substantially
increasing the likelihood of a crash.

MY SYSTEM INFORMATION:
Application name-Outlook Version-11.0 Build-6359
Language English (United States)
Application Path C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office\OFFICE11\
System Language English (United States)
Mail Support Not Available
Current folder Inbox
Current item Not Available
I'm using Business Contact Manager.
I use a LAN connection for my email
mail3.empiredatatech.com is both the incoming mail server (POP3), and the
Outgoing mail server (SMTP).
I auto-archive every all email three days.
My archive file has 3.72 gig of data in it.
My contacts folder has 6093kb in it.

ATTEMPTS TO FIX: In a previous set of attempts to end my suffering:
I deleted my old profile and created a new on.
I verified that there were no .fav files.
I went to the folder:
C:\Documents and Settings\username\Application Data\
Microsoft\Outlook
and deleted from that folder the following files:
Outcmd.dat, .nk2 files, .XML files, Outcmd.dat, Outlprnt,
and .otm files.
I went to: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Office\Outlook\Add-ins
The Add-ins listed there were the following:
SnagItOfficeAddin.Connect
PDFMOutlook.PDFMOutlook
Microsoft.VbaAddinForOutlook.1
Microsoft.BusinessSolutions.eCRM.OutlookAddIn.Connect.1
I set all of the loadbehaviors to 1.

Then, I went to Control Panel, Add/Remove Programs, Microsoft
Professional
2003, Change, Reinstall or Repair, Detect and Repair Errors in my Office
Installation,
Then, I opened Outlook using Run, Cmd, Outlook.exe /safe /cleanviews
/cleanprofile
Then, I ran the Help, Detect and Repair.

I repeated the foregoing steps several times. Outlook is a lot better, but
it still crashes a lot, and it's sluggish.

QUESTIONS:
1. Does anyone have any suggestions about how to track
down the problem, i.e, to find out why this is happening?
2. How often should I compact my Personal folders?
3. Is there a utility that would compare the data in pst
files, so that I could see what's different between
yesterday's backup and today's file (after scanpst.exe
deleted corrupt data)?
4. I have a suspicion that my contact folder (and/or my
business contact folder) is too large. What can I do
about it?

Thanks for any suggestions.
