Populate Form with preExitsting data

Hi All,

I have a form that can multiple versions...When a user
opens a new 'version' of a form i need it to get certain
data from the original form (eg. previous comments etc)..

How can I do this?? I was thinking of storing in a db and
then searching this db when a new form is created and
populating from there.

Is there a better method??
