Project 2000 Calanders

Steve

I always have trouble with calanders. Here is a simple example of what I want
to do.
I have a project that has an office project staff and a Site based
construction staff and crew. The office staff work 7.00AM to 5.00Pm Mon to
Friday with no break and the site crew work 6.30AM - 12.00PM, 12.30PM -
5.00PM Mon to Friday, 7.00AM - 12.00pm , 12.30pm - 3.30pm Sat and 7.00am -
12.00pm, 12.30pm - 2.30pm Sun. Assuming I set up two calanders, which do I
make the project calander and how is the other used. Also when I print how is
non working time shown for the two different calanders.

Hi Steve,

Your project calendar will only drive the task schedule until you
create and assign resources. So I would most likely set the Project
calendar to 7 - 5 M through F. I'd also set your calendar options
to: 10 hour day, 50 hour week.

Then create an additional base calendar for the construction crew.
Create your resource and assign the base calendars appropriately.
When you assign a resource using the construction crew calendar it
will be scheduled based upon that calendar. Assign an "office"
resource to a task and it will be scheduled based upon his/her
calendar.

I hope this helps. Let us know how you get along.
