Project not changing start date as expected

All tasks have a constraint type of ASAP.

When, I try to change the start date on it, it will not change. It goes
back to the original date. It tells me there is a constraint or task
conflict but it does not exist.

When I set predecessors for tasks after it (same level), it does not
calculate the dates.

I have outdent the task above the subtask and change the date, it all works
properly. I indent it and it works fine. This was an ok workaround. But,
it is not the right way.

Does anyone know why this is happening?

Tad,
Is the task a summary line? Do you have links on summary lines? Does the
task have a date, (i.e. something other than "NA"), in the Actual Start
field? Is calculation, (Tools/Options/Calculation tab), set for
automatic? What version of Project are you using? What updates are
applied?

Hi,

You probably have a circular link.
Remove all dependencies to or from summary tasks.
