Question reg managing resource allocation on a Project

Hello –

Scenario
A resource was previously 100% on the project and assigned to various tasks.
Today it was told that the resource will only be available 50% to the
project. What is the easy to rectify this, without having to go into the
project plan and adjust the resource allocation to all the tasks assigned?

You can go to the Resource Usage sheet. Insert the column "assignment
units". Change the assigned units from 100% to 50%. This will change the
duration of all tasks where this resource is assigned unless they are fixed
duration tasks. It can be accomplished in about 1 minute since all the tasks
are in the same place and you can drag the 50% down.

If a change in duration is not acceptable, make all the tasks Fixed Duration
prior to your change. You will have to manually substitute a different
resource to make up for the unavailability of the original resource work
hours, or change the scope of the work so it can be done within the new
smaller amount of work allotted. (Cost, Schedule, Performance ... pick two).
