What is the best way to set up resources who are working part time on the
project?
I have tried various methods using a simple 10 day task and I cannot get
project to re-calculate the duration when the resource units are changed to
50%.
I have done levelling, day-by-day.
The task was 10 days at normal working day of 7 hrs, therefore I wanted
Project so spread this task into the future because the resource was only
available 50%.
It only schedules 56 hours of work and not 70.
What is the best way to have part-time resources defined?
Resource allocation? or Resource calendars with reduced working days?

Karina,
If I understand you correctly all you need to do is make sure your settings
are correct under Tools/Options/Calendar in relation to the hours worked per
working day.

Then if you allocate a resouce to the task, then use the 'window/split' to
view to review the resource information - set the units to 50% and the
duaration and dates shoud be scheduled out.
