Shared Resources

I have shared resources between two projects. For one particular task there
are going to be 2 different resources working at different time. For. e.g.
One resource would be working from 01/09/2003 to 07/11/2003. The second
resource would work from 04/12/2003 for 25 days. I achieved this by
assigning the task to these 2 resources. One of the resource i.e Resource 1
has left the organisation on 10/11/2003. So in the Resource availability, I
have specified, that Resource 1 would be available for this project from
start date to 10/11/2003. When I add the additional work to be done by
Resource 2 it shows resource 1 to overallocated. How do make this resource
inactive. I am not using Project Server.

Have you tried setting his availability to 7/11/2003? Is he allocated to
another task to 10/11/2003? Does it matter now as those dates have long
gone?

Hi Mike

This resource is not allocated to any other task. Since I need to maintain
the planned effort versus actual effort I need to keep a track of this
history
Despite limiting his availability to 07/11/2003 he gets allocated to days
beyond 07/11/2003!!

This could be a prolem with dates - current and/or status. Have you
allocated any actuals to him? Try setting the status date to
7/11/2003 and re-level.
